Hopkins Roofing recently completed a total replacement of the Iowa Events Center roof for OVG360 in downtown Des Moines. With its age and exposure to various weather conditions, the old roof leaked in many areas and could no longer provide consistent protection from the elements. In April 2021, Hopkins Roofing partnered with Polk County to remove the existing roof deck and install over 173,000 square feet of new insulation, vapor barrier, and roofing membrane, complete with metal flashing and trim.
Despite a number of unique challenges which included unpredictable weather, material shortages, and a highly obstructed layout which includes almost 40 unique roofing levels and sections, Hopkins Roofing went above and beyond to create a leak-free venue to host Central Iowa’s best events for years to come.
As of May 2022, installation of the new roof is complete and Iowa Events Center remains the premier place to host the biggest stars in sports and entertainment. The success of this project would not have been possible without the expertise of architecture firm Shive Hattery, the incredible electrical work of Baker Electric, and the timely manufacturing of high-quality roofing materials by Carlisle.
